A biological safety cabinet (BSC) is an important piece of equipment used in laboratories, which can effectively protect operators, the experimental environment and experimental samples from biological hazards.

DESCRIPTION

WORKING PRINCIPLE

    1. Biological safety cabinets filter air through high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. When in operation, air is drawn into the cabinet. It first passes through a pre-filter to remove large particulate impurities and then goes through the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter can filter out particles of 0.3 microns and above, including microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, with a filtration efficiency of over 99.97%.
    2. For different levels of biological safety cabinets, the air flow patterns are different. In a Class I biological safety cabinet, air enters from the front, circulates in the working area after passing through the HEPA filter, and part of the air is exhausted outdoors. In a Class II biological safety cabinet, the air flow is more complicated. It has two types: vertical laminar flow and horizontal laminar flow. In the vertical laminar flow type, air is blown vertically downward from the high-efficiency filter at the top, forming a protective air flow in the working area, and then part of the air is exhausted from the front or side, while the rest of the air is recycled and filtered. In the horizontal laminar flow type, air is blown horizontally from the rear high-efficiency filter towards the front, and the protective air flow covers the working area. Part of the air is also exhausted and recycled. A Class III biological safety cabinet is fully enclosed, and operators conduct operations through glove boxes. Air enters and exits the safety cabinet after undergoing multiple filtrations and purifications.

    3. Multi-functional Operation: It can be used for a variety of biological experimental operations, such as microbial inoculation, cell manipulation, tissue processing, etc. Different levels of safety cabinets can be selected for use according to the risk level of the experiment.

 

APPLICATION

    1. Microbiological Research: It is widely used in the cultivation, identification and research of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. For example, when studying the characteristics of the novel coronavirus, virus cultivation and experimental operations need to be carried out in a biological safety cabinet.
    2. Medical Testing and Diagnosis: It is used in clinical laboratories to detect pathogens. For example, when detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the sputum of tuberculosis patients, the biological safety cabinet can prevent the spread of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
    3. Biopharmaceutical Research and Development: In pharmaceutical processes such as genetic engineering and cell engineering, operations such as cell line cultivation and gene editing all require biological safety cabinets to provide a safe working environment.

  3. It features a power-off memory function. Once powered on again, it will restore the state prior to power-off, and there will be visual prompts and alarms.
  4. The integrated design of the operation area allows for easy disassembly and cleaning.
  5. The cabinet is detached from the base. The height of the adjustable base can be customized according to specific requirements.
  6. Interlocking functions are provided among the UV lamp and the front window, the UV lamp and the fan, the UV lamp and the LED lamp, as well as the fan and the front window.
  7. It has the function of preset timing, which enables automatic setting of the startup and shutdown time of the safety cabinet and the running time of ultraviolet lamps, fans and sockets.
  8. The front window adopts a double-trigger signal for closing, ensuring that the sterilization and disinfection function of the ultraviolet lamp can be turned on normally.
  9. The negative pressure air duct is equipped with a foreign matter filtering structure to prevent foreign objects like paper scraps from entering the fan system and interfering with the normal operation of the product.
  10. The front window glass has a one-key lifting function.
  11. The cabinet is designed with a 10-degree inclination angle, which conforms to ergonomic principles. It offers a wider viewing angle, facilitates operation and is more user-friendly.
  12. The one-piece armrest has a large flat surface, providing a larger contact area with the arm and thus being more comfortable.
